YouthPath

Employment pathways for West Midlands youth

Movement to Work (MtW) is proud to introduce YouthPath, an ambitious initiative in partnership with the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA).

YouthPath aims to inspire and support businesses across the West Midlands to create meaningful employment pathways—work experience, apprenticeships, and job opportunities—for young people aged 16-30 who are currently not in education, employment, or training (NEET).

This campaign seeks to bolster the Government’s Youth Guarantee and reinforces the West Midlands’ role as a Trailblazer region.

Movement to Work is proud to support the West Midlands Mayor’s Youth Employment Plan, which seeks to deliver 20,000 opportunities for young people in the coming years.

If you’re a West Midlands employer, join the growing coalition of businesses already pledging to support young people in the region. We’re here and ready to help you make a difference!

YouthPath launched in Feb 2025 – Read the full press release here.

Success Stories

Fathi’s Journey with Accenture Birmingham

Fathi’s path to a Technology Degree Apprenticeship didn’t start with success — it started with a setback.

After her initial application didn’t lead to an offer, Fathi had a choice: give up, or find another way forward. Thanks to MtW and Accenture’s commitment to creating real opportunities for young people, she found that way.

In March 2025, Fathi joined a five-day, hybrid (in-person/virtual), work experience programme, designed specifically to open doors for those who face barriers to employment – part of our YouthPath initiative in the West Midlands. The aim? Equip young people with the skills, experience, and confidence they need to thrive in tech careers.

Throughout the programme, Fathi:

  • Built a fully functioning website with embedded GenAI features
  • Learned key coding languages like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Practised mock interviews and received 1:1 mentoring
  • Gained first-hand insight into Accenture’s tech culture and recruitment process

More than just a course, it was a hands-on, immersive experience that mirrored life as an apprentice. By the end of the week, Fathi had completed the full application process — and this time she was accepted onto the Accenture Technology Degree Apprenticeship in Birmingham, starting September 2025.
